      My roles and responsibilities in this post are to cover the main reception and deal with face to face queries with the general public I also deal with telephone enquiries, make telephone enquiries to patients, staff within the hospital or other sorts of hospital or gp related staff. I also have to cover clinics and make sure all notes for the clinics are pulled once patients arrive for their appointments, If their are no notes I have to make sure their is some form of paperwork with information regarding the child for the consultant. I have to also make follow up appointments once patients have been seen in clinic. If the doctors want the patients discharged I have to discharge them. In this role I also have to record attendances of the patients after each clinic is over. I also have to liaise with various other members of staff throughout the hospital such as secretaries, coordinators and the medical records for notes or missing referrals needed for patients. This role can sometimes be challenging as it can be quite busy and challenging, i sometimes have to priorities work as i can get ques at the desk, the phone ringing and queries of nurses and other members of staff.       As a clerical officer I have to carry out duties such as filing patient files back into the main records department after they have been out into clinics, I also track files on the pas computer system To where they are I also check where they have come from and who they are tracked from etc. I also pull files for when they are needed for clinics and track them to where they should be going. I prep notes for clinics so this means I go out looking for notes and track any notes and try and locate files on the pas system that are missing and then get all the notes ready for clinics, i then go and give the notes to the department wich the patients have come to for their appointments.       I worked here for a year I covered the reception and carried out duties such as answering calls from members of the public that wished to donate to the christies charity and also dealing with members of deceased family members or memebers of the public wishing to donate to the Christie charity face to face. I also put fundraising packs together ready for collection. I then moved on to working in the gynae clinic as a volunteer health care assistant I organised transport for patients, chaperoning patients when they were into examination by the consultants I also used to call patients into the clinic waiting room ready to get their height and weight checked and also be seen by the consultants. I also worked in the health records department in the Christie`s I sorted out files into number order I also sorted out the correspondence into in the files and tracked them on the Medway system, I also done some clinic prep which included prepping for clinics finding files wich were located within other departments around the hospital and also making telephone calls to track down notes from other hospitals Wich patients had appoints at and also tracking the files and making sure the patient notes were all prepped and ready for the deadline given.
