Ruslana was a student in one of the discussion sections of Journalism 175 (Media Literacy) course that I taught as a teaching assistant in Fall 2013. I found her work, maturity, and intellectual breadth to be far above what one would expect from an average university student. She was one of the students who actively brought up excellent points in our weekly writing assignments, and her work always reflected a high level of critical thinking that often times helped propelled the overall discussion to broader, more abstract issues. She was not afraid to let her opinion heard or challenged, and she often offered different points of views. She is smart, and she needs little instructions. She was also a good team player who performed well in group projects. Overall, Ruslana is an effective and eloquent speaker, a solid writer, and a deep thinker. She appeared to be extremely focused, and was definitely one of those students who make the professor’s job easier. I have no doubt she will succeed in any future endeavors she embarks on.
