Grace Church Fremont has been blessed to have Pastor Roy served as our Transitional Senior Pastor. During this difficult period, I have seen Pastor Roy served faithfully, ever mindful of what is important, and with extreme integrity. Pastor Roy never once spoke a word that would has a slight hint of bias or self-interest. His integrity is impeccable. Pastor Roy's teachings were always biblical and foundational, and Pastor Roy is always faithful to the Word. I have no doubt that under his teaching, the church will be blessed with sound teachings. What gives me the greatest appreciation of Pastor Roy was and is his humility. No matter what the situation or issue was, Pastor Roy exhibits Christ's like quality of humility. He often served and taught through the issues and never at people. His love for Christ's church is evident. He served diligently and often gave 110%. I have no hesitation in recommending Pastor Roy to any church that wants first and foremost a man of God with Christ-like humility, integrity, and faithfulness.

Pastor Roy has been invaluable to bring our church (Grace Church Fremont) through the transitional season which has been a particularly difficult one. His integrity, faithfulness to Christ's teaching and love and passion for people of GCF was the key to keeping the church together. I would highly recommend Pastor Roy to take the position senior or associate pastor of any medium size church, especially one that is multi-ethnic in nature.

Pastor Roy worked closely with CCBA during a critical period. His role included preaching on select Sundays, which he was very effective at. His most valuable contributions were in mentoring the up-and-coming leaders within the English congregation. Pastor Roy’s formal and informal training sessions with the English leaders were invaluable and deeply rooted in Scripture. He provided both practical and theological perspectives in his lessons and his recommendations for ministry and outreach. He worked very well in diverse settings, which included people of different ethnic backgrounds and denominations, and he helped us focus on building a solid foundation for the ministry. Pastor’s Roy time with us was extremely beneficial, and has left a strong impression that is sure to stay with every person here for the long term.

As lead pastor I led a staff team consisting of a worship/executive pastor, a youth pastor, a children's minister, a part-time small groups pastor and an administrative staff team. Our vision was to introduce evermore people to the wholeness and vitality of life in Christ. We utilized a team teaching model to share Christ and develop disciples. By emphasizing three crucial connections - connecting to God in worship, to others in community and to the world in service we led CLC to become a missional community. Show less

    • Pastor of English and Youth Ministries
      • 1984 - 2000

I began serving part-time as a youth pastor while I was a student at Fuller Theological Seminary. When I finished seminary, the church leadership invited me to become their English minister and begin worship services for the English speaking members of the church. I preached weekly for nearly 15 years. As the ministry grew, we developed a college ministry and a second worship service focusing on the needs of young families and professionals. One of the young professionals who relocated to the bay area, introduced me to Christian Layman Church my next place of ministry. Show less
