My business partner and I started EasyGreen together both having experience in the sustainability industry, our business model was based around the VEET (Victorian Energy Efficiency Target) initiative. We employed 15 people to knock doors and give away free energy efficient products to homes around Victoria. The products we were working with were CFL energy efficient globes, standby power controller, door seals, shower heads and chimney balloons. As one of two directors and owners of the business’s I was responsible for business development, recruiting, training staff, organizing payroll as well as conducting audits on our installations. I also prepared our application to the ESC (Essential Service Commission) to become an accredited to create VEEC’s (Victorian Energy Efficiency certificates). Due to saturation of these products into the market and dropping certificate prices we decided to close the business after 10 months of operation. Major Accomplishments: Setting up a company from scratch was a great experience. Every day we were faced with new challenges that we had to overcome.

I was given the position off state branch and sales manager and was in control of every aspect of the business from managing the sales team to dealing with the clerical side of the business. After 3 months under my management I had grown from two sales reps and myself to a team of 7 sales reps reporting to me. We achieved over 3 million dollars of sales through the office in the three months we were operating. The branch was closed down due to the solar feed in tariff ending in Canberra making the office no longer viable.
