I had the pleasure of working with Rick when he joined CSC as the Lead Executive for their FAA account and I was the Capture Executive for a pending FAA Cloud opportunity. What was immediately obvious was the high level of understanding, commitment and focus that Rick had for the FAA mission. Rick fully understood the commercial interests of CSC to win the opportunity and be profitable, but within that environment he was the strongest advocate for what the FAA needed to be successful. In my role as Capture Executive, Rick was a pleasure to work with and an example of how a Lead Executive should support a major strategic capture opportunity. He was decisive, prepared to make hard decisions and stood side by side with his Business Development and Capture teams to do the right thing for the customer.. This was particularly important in developing the strategy for the technical solution for FAA, where internal corporate pressure was pushing us towards a solution that was not optimal for the customer. Rick backed me to the hilt as we engaged and navigated internal politics to maintain focus on the customers needs. In the end I actually left CSC and moved to Australia just prior to the RFQ being released. I felt particularly bad at leaving at a critical juncture, but knew that the CSC team was well placed, on the right track and that Rick would keep it that way. In the end CSC won the opportunity which I attribute fully to Rick, his leadership and unwavering customer focus.
