  Badan Usaha Milik Desa (BUMDesa) Bunga Tanjung is a local company in Tanjung Hutan Village. This village is located 30 minutes by boat from Tanjung Balai Karimun, one of regency in Kepulauan Riau Province. In, 2016 the community get three solar PV power plant from Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. They didn't need to spend Rp 300,000 per month again, for having a light and watching TV only 5 hours a day. They just should pay Rp 40,000 per month to have 300 wh/day. The Bumdes still operate the off-grid power plant even PLN already exist in this village (early 2021). They have successfully expanded the enterprise, not only selling electricity but also providing small financial service and ceremony equipment rent. Show less

This work helps me to understand about renewable energy especially solar PV and community development. The main challenges in this field is how to transform the paradigm of local community for having a sense of ownership to make sure the power plant sustain.
