I worked alongside Rebecca during her HMRC placement year building a large Customs related service. Rebecca took to designing within GDS guidelines quickly. She also picked up prototyping in HTML/CSS/JS with relative ease, and didn’t shy away from learning more complex functionality when it was required. Rebecca proved she could work with a large team of designers, taking complex journey diagrams and turning them into functioning prototypes. She was not afraid to ask for help when she needed it, and was very pro-active about taking onboard and implementing feedback. These skills will benefit her greatly as she develops her career. It was a pleasure working with Rebecca and I wish her all the best.
Yiqiu (Autumn) Wang
During her one-year placement at HMRC Rebecca was proactive in working and learning. She worked closely with user researchers and actively attended usability tests, live observations and retrospective interviews to understand the problems in the service. With the experience of participating in the fast-paced research session of Covid-19 project, I believe she has a good understanding of the relationship between user research and interaction design. She took amazing notes during our research sessions. She is very efficient and nice to work with.

At my 3 week placement with Sage, me and two members of my team developed an in-depth prototype for a new app concept for small business owners where they are able to find work, keep in touch with their customers, send invoices and get paid for their work. We also created a companion customer app where users can search for tradespeople and correspond with their chosen trades-person. We presented to the wider business, and carried out in-depth user testing. I also learnt and worked using the Google Sprints methodology, and developed my skills using software such as Sketch and Marvel. Show less

Work Experience
-
Feb 2017 - Feb 2017
During my work experience, I worked in a fast-paced studio environment, on various live briefs, including a poster design advertising an Easter event for a national chain of shopping centres. I also shadowed various members of the graphic design team, and assisted in the creation of a professional voiceover for a Barker and Stone House TV advert. The experience of working here was brilliant, and gave me an opportunity to showcase my positive attitude, and hard work ethic in a professional environment. Show less
