Programme Manager - Security & Geopolitics
-
Sep 2021 - Present
The Young Indo-Pacific Forum (YIPForum) is the first annual conference for and by European and Asian youth on the Indo-Pacific region. We create an annual platform for global experts and youth to engage in forward-looking dialogue in a variety of fields, including Security & Geopolitics, Climate Change, Human Rights, Trade and Technology. The Forum was founded and is organised by the youth think tanks Polis180, the Student Think Tank for Europe-Asia Relations (STEAR) and European Guanxi. In 2022, the YIPForum was an officially recognised co-organiser of the EU-ASEAN Youth Summit and provided a recorded video intervention to the opening ceremony of the 2022 EU-ASEAN Commemorative Summit. As Programme Manager for Security & Geopolitics, I am the lead organiser and moderator of the Forum's Security & Geopolitics panel and contribute to the Forum's planning more generally. I also co-author the Forum's post-event communiqués and conduct meetings with EU and Indo-Pacific officials to discuss the Forum's outcomes and share our policy recommendations. Show less

Established in 2021, STEAR is the first student think tank of its kind. Its vision is to serve as the first and leading policy institute for students and young professionals in both Europe and Asia, to provide a bridge between the two continents, and to strengthen multilateral cooperation and international prosperity.During my time at STEAR, I grew considerably in my role, from Editor, to Associate Editor, to Deputy Editor-in-Chief & Podcast Director; These promotions were a reflection of my ever increasing commitment to and responsibility within this incredible organization. At STEAR, I, among other things: co-managed a team of over 20 writers and editors; directed STEAR's podcast; organized events and conferences; wrote and edited reports and articles, including for the ISSN-registered Journal of Asia and Europe Relations, and; led collaborative projects with other organizations. STEARing the Conversation discusses contemporary issues of geopolitics, culture, human rights, trade and more, as they are unfolding in the European Union (EU), Asia and the broader Indo-Pacific region. With a special eye on the role of youth in helping states navigate 21st century international relations, our discussions feature not only established professionals but also inspirational youth who have helped steer the conversation on Europe-Asia relations. This is an initiative by the Student Think Tank for Europe-Asia Relations (STEAR). Show less

-
Sep 2022 - Jul 2023
At Friends of Europe (FoE) I assisted the Global Europe (formerly Asia) and Digital & Space programme teams in the organisation of both in-person and hybrid, high-level policymaker events in Brussels. I have been directly involved in the development of FoE's new Global Europe programme and helped build it from the ground up. My tasks included, among others: drafting outreach and event invitation emails, attending meetings with partners and policymakers, stakeholder analyses, event content development, policy research, drafting speaker and moderator briefings, on-the-day event management, CRM data entry and networking. Aug 2018 - Aug 2019
The Board of Studies is an institutional body that safeguards and works on improving the educational quality of the university's Liberal Arts & Sciences bachelor programme. As a member, I worked closely with students and staff, and was tasked with forming a bridge between the student body and university management on matters relating to the academic programme and educational quality. As a member of the Board, I, among other things: wrote and edited educational policy documents and policy memoranda; negotiated continuously with management and student representatives, and; fought for a stronger position for the Board within the institutional hierarchy.
