Sebastian Thelen
I worked with Nicolas as a consultant in semantic web technologies at the Publications Office of the European Union. Nicolas was with the office and we both worked on metadata alignments for the central content and metadata repository CELLAR. As a librarian by trade, Nicolas brought detailed business knowledge of the production chains we were modeling with him. He quickly mastered all the technologies that were required from an IT perspective and within a short time developed a solid understanding of OWL, RDF, SPARQL, XPath, XSLT, and related tools. Nicolas was always highly motivated and genuinely interested in solving the complex issues at hand. It has always been a pleasure working with him.

Nicolas Pinçon joined my team in 2012 as a documentalist with a special focus on cataloguing general publications. Nicolas is a highly appreciated team member, both professionally and personally. His tasks reach from the follow up of daily production and interacting with our customers over contributions to metadata standards to software development and teaching. When he joined, Nicolas had already started to follow evening courses to complement his documentalist background with a deeper knowledge in information technology including software development and databases. Nicolas has since put both strands of expertise to great use not only in developing tools to facilitate the follow up of some of our most mission critical production chains, but he also contributes to the development of these chains themselves. In addition, he has started to give well-received in-house training courses in semantic technologies, in particular RDF, OWL and SPARQL, to colleagues.
