Monica is an excellent History teacher who created a lot of positive energy in her classroom during her time here at CSS. She lead her department by instituting a new 9th Grade curriculum that better matched national trends and made more challenging use of that year in our students' development. She also enthusiastically shared her Spanish background, culture and perspective, going so far as creating a three-week traveling seminar on the cultural traditions and changes in Valencia, Spain. On this seminar students became members of Monica's extended family and achieved insights into the themes and forces in Valencian culture that no traditional "educational tour" could hope to achieve. She brings a great deal of interpersonal energy and generosity to her classes and her students, to which students respond positively. I also worked with Monica on another three-week seminar on alternative energy on which she was an actively engaged and supportive co-leader. I recommend her for a teaching position with enthusiasm.
