I'm writing this letter of recommendation for Dr. Millicent Lewis-McCoy. I've known Dr. McCoy since 2009 when we both worked together at the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center. Dr. McCoy and I worked as colleagues for four years in Deputy Executive Director roles. I had the pleasure of not only working with this incredible individual but also learning from her as well. Dr. McCoy is one of the most driven people I know and has a work ethic that is unmatched. Dr. McCoy's level of dedication, commitment, and attention to detail to any project assigned led to positive outcomes for the facility which was under a consent decree to improve condition of confinement for youth in our care. While her knowledge and abilities in the field of juvenile justice was always in line with best practices, her ability to develop and lead her employees at all levels exemplified her leadership and often drew people to her because of beautiful personality. When asked to write this recommendation, I couldn't think of a better person to consider for whatever endeavor Dr. McCoy is seeking. If there is any additional information I can provide, I can be reached at (708) 574-2198.
