Bio
Evlyn Baker
While working with Michelle for over 4 years at the Arts & Health Alliance, she established communications, programs, grants and awards, and strategic partnership agendas and lead the initiatives with incredible success. She was key in publication direction, launched several communications and development plans, played a key role event program development, and so much more. A creative, forward-thinking, invaluable colleague!
Andrew Ivers
I worked with Michelle Mariano in 2008–2009 as one of the managing editors on her journals team. I found her to be an excellent editor, an excellent manager, and a generally excellent person to work with. She was always organized and professional, friendly and efficient. She showed me, in words and deeds, how to work well with authors and colleagues, how to manage deadlines and other responsibilities, how to develop and execute new ideas. I think more than any single person she is the one who taught me what it means to be a professional editor. She is also one of the sharpest and smartest editors I've ever worked with. In the years after I worked with her I have often found myself thinking back to her example when making decisions, either about editing or about my professional life in general. If I were ever hiring for an editorial staff, she would undoubtedly be at the top of my list. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
