In my PhD, I investigated the diffusion processes in minerals of the Earth's lower mantle (MgO, (Fe,Mg)O, MgSiO3 perovsktie & post-perovskite ) using atomistic simulations (VASP - ab initio, GULP - classic interatomic potentials, kinetic Monte Carlo (C++), High Performance Computing). These results were subsequently used to constrain the rheology of the deepest regions of the Earth. As post-doc, I calculated the thermal conductivity of these minerals with a non-equlibrium molecular dynamics methods. I implemented the required algorithms into GULP (Fortran). These results constrained the heatflow out of the Earth's core into the mantle.Find me on Google scholar: http://scholar.google.com/citations?user=hChueigAAAAJ&hl=en
