Installed, maintained and troubleshot commercial-grade fiber optic cabling in goal of commercializing joint forces' military networks to replace tactical fiber infrastructure. Routinely installed/repaired manholes, laid conduit, handholes, service holes. Operated various types of equipment to include Oprtical Time Domain Reflectometer, Visual Fault Locator, TKT-Unicam kit, Fusion Splicer, and the Vermeer trencher. Assembled and installed switch racks and cable racks. Terminated and spliced both copper and fiber optic cable. Pulled telecommunications cabling through a wide variety of building architectures (both permanent and temporary, including tactical) through buried conduit (outside plant) routed between buildings, ceilings, raised floors and cable troths. Troubleshot and corrected both copper and fiber optic cable problems for lack of continuity, noise, signal loss and degradation, improper termination, excessive loss and intermittent issues. Established and maintained cable records. Supervised eight Field Service Representatives and seven Marines with outside plant operations of commercial optical fiber. Implemented thirteen major commercial fiber infrastructure projects aboard the base. Managed and oversaw the installation of over fifty thousand feet of conduit and commercial fiber optic cable and the termination of over six hundred and fifty individual strands of fiber to provide voice and data communications for outside agencies.
