Worked with the lead medical assistant to room, take vitals, verify chart information and set up procedures. These procedures included pap smears, biopsy collections, colposcopies, and chest port removals. I also communicated normal results, FMLA, disability, handicap parking, work release letters, communicated signs of adverse reactions to chemo/radiation therapy and cultivated patient relationships. We also prepared paper charts for every patient that was seen that included relevant outside exams, lab work, PET scans, and radiology reports. Show less

This was my first AFH industry that I worked for, I was employed through an agency, called TPD. They were pretty organized for such a new facility and I learned about exit seekers, and the last stages of Alzheimer's here. As well as all of my acute care experience. Unfortunately, I had a kidney infection, while pregnant, got an extreme fever, and couldn't come to work. So they replaced me. The owners were from another state, and had poor management. I was employed 40 hours a week, and I knew the most, but I got paid the least. Otherwise, a great learning experience! This was my first AFD and my first overnight shift experience. Around the time I found a better job, I got pregnant and passed my State Boards.
