The Police Prosecutor is responsible for the preparation and presentation of cases in the District Court, for the review and assistance in preparation of cases for Superior Court, and for researching and preparing legal briefs to assist in the administration of the Department. As the department's liaison with the District Court, the Court Liaison Officer coordinates the scheduling of cases and witnesses, and as liaison with the District Attorney, he ensures that all cases have been reviewed for legality and completeness.Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Detective Sergeant and in accordance with department policy. The Regional Response Team (RRT) is a tactical unit comprised of sworn police officers that consistently train to provide NEMLEC members and communities with a highly trained and well-equipped tactical unit that can be deployed in the event of an emergency or major event. The unit’s main focus is to provide an adequate number of highly trained tactical officers to combat civil disturbances, to assist with man-made and natural disasters, to aid in search and rescue missions, and to assist the NEMLEC communities when additional resources are necessary.
