Emergency/trauma services duties include overseeing staff of 48 RN’s and ED techs in providing safe, effective, and culturally-competent patient care for all age groups requiring stabilization, and/or resuscitation as they present to the emergency department. Oversee and provide direct leadership to the EMS system coordinator and trauma / emergency preparedness coordinator. Plan, develop, implement, maintain and obtain appropriate approvals for effective policies and procedures in compliance with regulations, hospital-wide and corporate policies. Responsible for the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and services provided. Develop budgets and monitor for variances from budget and effectively address them on a timely basis so as to achieve targets for wages/salaries, operations, and capital expenditures. Interviews effectively and hires in timely fashion to provide and maintain appropriate staffing levels. Maintain current responsibility profiles and performance standards for staff. Demonstrate leadership by motivating and developing initiative and maintaining morale in staff as shown by low turnover, low unplanned absenteeism and disciplinary action statistics. Identify and provides opportunities such as education programs and areas for improvement to develop staff. Encourage and support the development of and attendance at hospital training/information sessions and orientation sessions for new staff. Effectively prevent workplace injuries by ensuring compliance with all provisions of the Safety and Exposure Control Plan. EMS administrative director duties include providing oversight of EMS system which consisted of 17 pre-hospital agencies. Monitor and conduct initial training and continuing education sessions.
