I contacted The Washington Center to find out about hiring interns. Machell responded with information about TWC's program for Native American students. Knowledgeable about the lengthy hiring process for federal government, Machell explained how it could be done through an established contract. She coordinated the entire process, and then followed up with me throughout the students' tenure with us. The two interns we hired for a semester each were excellent workers who helped us clear through some projects that needed the extra staff to accomplish. AND it helped us with demonstrating diversity in our hiring. Hopefully these students will want to come back and compete for one of our open positions. Machell's conscientiousness and expertise made this a positive experience for all parties.

Rarely will you find an individual who is as passionate and committed to their craft as Machell Louis. When I first came to Seattle to work with United Indians of all Tribes Foundation I found Machell to be professional, dedicated to her work, but more importantly dedicated to both internal and external stakeholders. It is easy to find people who do enough to be recognized, but it isn't easy to find people who maintain a level of commitment when the circumstances have minimized resources and strained budgets to the point of enabling them to effectively do their jobs. I watched Machell rise above all that this downward economy threw at her and still find the resources to assist others along their career paths when at times when it seemed that even hers was on the line. Machell stands when others would crumble under the weight and I highly recommend her as a leader and dedicated and valuable member of any team.
