Having studied and organized charity work with Luke, I have been steadily impressed by the dedication, hard work and enthusiasm he has brought to every position he has held. He founded the Cancer Research Society at the University of Manchester and as such as been instrumental to raising funds and awareness with activities across the whole University. This internship was used to teach me the workings of cosmological Boltzmann codes and Monte Carlo simulation software. Here I learnt how to use CosmoMC in efforts to compare tensions between the cosmic microwave background and large scale structure (weak gravitation lensing, redshift spatial distortions). This included MPI programming, Linux shell and Bayesian statistics in the context of multidimensional probability distributions.
