A volunteer position which consists of three and a half hour shifts (9:30am – 13:00pm or 13:30pm – 17:30pm) and duties included greeting patients as they come in to ascertain if they are coming to the pharmacy for the booster service or pharmacy services and signposting them to the correct side of the pharmacy. Patients arriving for their booster were checked against a list and marked down as present, then told to fill out a consent form and take a seat on the left while those coming for pharmacy services were directed to queue at the counter on the right. Another important responsibility was to watch the patients after their booster, to look for signs of an allergic reaction or that they are generally unwell, and report any to the vaccinating pharmacist. As giving patients a lot of important information was imperative to the role, clear, concise, and friendly communication was a must. Checking patient details closely was also important, so attention to detail was very useful here. Show less

A part time temporary role which involved carrying racking beams from a container to pallets. As two people were required to carry each beam, it was very important to communicate effectively with the other person, so that the beams were placed correctly and safely on the pallets. Since the beams needed to be arranged in a specific orientation, attention to detail and problem solving was also important for this role. This consisted of making sure the park was clean and presentable by picking up litter, emptying the bins, cleaning the toilets and making sure that the bathrooms were well stocked with soap and toilet paper. Attention to detail, being thorough, and time keeping were critical to this role because we were assigned a specific block of toilets each day and we had to check said bathrooms every half an hour and sign a sheet to confirm that everything was up to standard. Due to needing to pick up litter, walking around the park and so talking to guests and answering any of their questions which were mainly directions, was also a part of the job. Show less
