During Lisa's time at ITL, she contributed a great deal of structured, robust and reusable Windows software to a number of the company's core products. Needless to say that all of these products are still in use at Blue Chip companies today.

I was recruited as a Visual C++ specialist. The main project I was involved in was a Multiple Site Source Control application. This involved using Visual Studio v6, SourceSafe APIs, DCOM, SQL knowedge, Active Documents and Resource Management. As part of this project, I was also involved with installs at customer sites and training the team.Since 2000 I started developing in Java. My current main project is a tool used by vehicle manufacturers to create diagnostics for testing their vehicles, either during production and/or at service bay. My skills are Java with J2EE and XSLT.As part of my job involves dealing with customers to discuss their requirements and producing specifications, including test specs. This project complies with SPICE standard so all the work produced has to be up to standard. Show less

I was involved in designing and writing a Windows application to be used in Pharmacies. The design is based on an existing DOS application. This application was to be run in the Windows 95 or NT environment. This application consisted of two parts. The front end, which has been developed in Delphi. The server end, which has been developed in Visual C++ v5. The two parts are linked using COM. I worked on both parts of the application, and so was able to further my knowledge of Delphi and Visual C++. Show less

I started as a Software Engineer and was promoted to be a Team Leader. I was also helping to train the new recruits. Part of the job was to provide ideas for the system design phase for a project. I was also responsible for producing design specification documents for my team. As well as guiding the team, I was involved in coding and testing. The main project involves a GUI front end, which enquires data from Tandem Servers, via a Remote Server Call comm. Module. The data retrieved is then display in either text or graphical formats. I used both Borland and Visual C++, but spent the majority (nearly 2 years) using Visual. Since the company began moving to Windows NT, I then spent the last 3 months using Visual C++ v4. I also looked at using ODBC to directly access the databases on the Tandem. The company was ISO9001/BS5750 approved, so all projects were worked to those standards. Show less

    • Junior Software Engineer
      • Jul 1992 - Sep 1994

During this time, I worked in teams of from 2 up to 20. I was involved in the following :-  Using FORTRAN, wrote programs which analyses data returned from a height profiling sonar. The data could also be searched and displayed in graphical formats.  Using DSP32C, wrote programs which used 4 DSPs to process returning sonar data, using FFTs, matrix arithmetic and filtering.  Using Visual C++ wrote a DOS program for a hand held helicopter in-flight recorder.  Using Visual C++ wrote a Windows program for a “waterfall” display program. Each set of data was displayed on one line, using pixel representation. Then the displayed data scrolls down the page as a new data set arrives. Show less
