As an intern I was tasked to track down certain supplies, which can be difficult especially in a country that you are not from and where resources are scarce. Even with these difficulties, with a little help from the internet and walking around the right area, asking people if they know where I can find certain items, I was able to find most of the components I was looking for. The ones that I didn't find, I had to improvise on the spot and find a different solution with the items that were available to me. At this internship I assisted with the development of a medical device prototype that reduces the load on the patients lower body. I designed unique parts using SolidWorks and 3D printing. Solved complex problems during development and assembly of the system. This allowed the company to communicated smoother with the manufacture in China, as well as created a documented catalog of all the parts. From the day I could walk and operate a handle tool, I was at my dads shop ripping apart old motors waiting to go to the junkyard. Having always wondered how cars worked, I set forth on the path to become a mechanical engineer in the automotive industry, working on cars for the rest of my life. In the summers I would worked as an assistant mechanic at my dads shop. I started by performing regular maintenance such as oil changes. As I got older I began working on replacing brakes on cars and even mounting and balancing new tires. I have worked on all types of vehicle, from old rusted out vans to brand new high end sports cars, and every car was exciting as the next. Even today when I am home I still go to the garage and get my hands dirty with my pops.
