Active Science is a youth physical activity and academic achievement initiative sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and offered by Merrimack College and the Merrimack Valley YMCA. • Researched the combined effects of a healthy lifestyle and academic achievement. The goal of the research was to prove that there is a correlation between the two components. • Created and implemented lesson plans that would be used during the Active Science after-school program. Also recorded and analyzed data received through pedometers and accelerometers. • Mentored and assisted Merrimack students in their directed study research and reviewed the effects of giving incentives to children to increase work effort while participating in Active Science.
