      Building Depot Curacao is the largest retail store on the island, offering Building Materials, Hardware supplies and Household items. As store manager I am responsible for reaching and surpassing our sales targets and sales turnover. Together with a team of roughly 150 members we do our utmost to reach our objectives. Daily tasks involve sales analysis, discussing ideas and problems that may arise and find solutions together to better the organization and increase customer satisfaction. Sales analysis to assess and make adjustments if necessary in order to reach the set goals. This entails discontinuing products that are not selling and communicating with our Purchasing department, which product(s) will have to be added. Weekly meeting with the marketing team to determine which products or departments to focus on.       As the general manager of three interlinked companies (Aluminum, Glass and Moldings) in the construction and home improvement industry on Aruba, I accomplish the objectives set for our companies through communication, firstly with the managing directors of the company and subsequently through meetings with the two managers of our production department in order to review the production process and meeting the set deadlines and at the same time reviewing past projects and learning from our mistakes and successes in order to progress as a group of companies, updating the sales department on the monthly forecast and aiding them to achieve the monthly targets, furthermore through a constant dialogue with our customers I constantly try to improve our business processes in order for us to serve what is requested. Due to the small scale of the island and its limited capabilities it is crucial to research the local an neighbouring markets in order for the company to identify (new) markets and thus expand/grow. This has led to the creation of the three enterprises and its selection of tailor made solutions for the Aruban and neighbouring markets (Bonaire and Curaçao). By applying various cloud apps (such as Google Apps for Business), I have been able to create an online platform that enables the 5 departments (sales, production, installation, marketing and logistics) in our companies to communicate more effectively with each other. These cloud services have enabled us to provide a rapid reply in real-time when information is requested concerning the status of a quotation, order status of a product, production phase of an order and the setting of a tentative installation date. Furthermore, I am responsible for the presentation the companies' showrooms. This entails ensuring that the various products exposed in the showroom are well advertised to our (target) markets and that the sales team has all the necessary information in order to obtain their sales objectives.
