Brewology101.com is a concept that started as a simple way to teach other about the art of homebrewing their own beer. The natural progression lead to adding the ability to create and share recipes via an additional called the Ale Abacus and the mobile app called the Brewing Assistant. The Ale Abacus and Brewing Assistant simplify the brewing experience by performing the most common calculations in recipe creation and providing reminders and assistance when actually brewing the beer. It also provides a centralize management and storage of recipes so users can manage their recipes cross-device and cross-platform. For Brewology101.com, I worked on the front-end and created the Android application. I also developed the sync protocol that is used to synchronize recipes between devices and maintain the most recent version across all instances. Show less

Shop24 is the leading developer of automated convenience stores, providing our partners the ability to serve their customers 24/7 with minimal time in the store. I was brought on to Shop24 as a Software Manager and Systems Architect to replace the legacy Windows XP store application with a more adaptable and user friendly experience that would run on a Linux platform. With the legacy store utilizing a largely 1990's code base and similar era ATM style interface, my team and I replaced the entire user experience with a large touchscreen and picture based product selection. In addition to sourcing and selecting a touchscreen, my work also involves improving store hardware performance, engineering design improvements, and selecting payment devices for flexibility, security, and ensuring PCI compliance. The migration also included the development of centralized, web-based control portal, providing the Shop24 team with constant monitoring of all stores and real time sales data. The web portal was built utilizing a role base access scheme giving Shop24 the granularity to limit store stocking partners to minimal access to specific stores, while also allowing multiple store owners to track their entire fleet. This portal requires work with Amazon EC2 and RDS. I continue to make ongoing improvements to the store including: improving flow, improving portal performance through code, query, and database index improvements, and expanding the capability to the store.
