As a Fulbright Fellow placed in the English Department of one of Greece's most prestigious private schools, I acted as a cultural ambassador for American education and cultural traditions to students from grades 7-9. During those two years, I filled a variety of roles: SAT tutor, speech and debate coach, literary magazine editor, volunteer coordinator, and most importantly classroom assistant to many teachers in the middle school. After having spent a summer harvesting crops on the college farm, I served for a year as representative for that farm on student government. As part of the BARDeats group confronting issues at the intersection of food and politics, I worked to inform my fellow students about agricultural sustainability as well as to gather diagnostic information from the student body in regards to these issues by means of online surveys, interviews and publicity events. While studying at Bard College, I worked through the college's Trustee Leader Scholar Office to manage the Bard campus operations of the Culture Connect foundation. In partnership with Culture Connect's own Education Program Coordinator, I helped to recruit, train, transport and oversee both our student volunteers and the curriculum which Culture Connect offers them. Culture Connect provided extended day programming at a selection of local schools were large populations of English language learners required extra language help and integration into the community.
