Six months into my internship I was promoted to Junior Designer. This was a great learning opportunity that gave me the chance to not only further my creative skills but also obtain more responsibility. I currently help manage the art department and oversee all design aspects on the website. My day to day involves creating daily visual content for The Pool’s social platforms, commissioning illustrators and providing bold and exciting designs for the AV, fashion/beauty and editorial departments. In addition to this I work closely with the commercial team, this involves designing mock ups, user journeys and presentations for big prospective clients such as Swarovski and Michael Kors. I thoroughly enjoy this because I get to contribute new visual content, maintain good work relationships and improve my interpersonal skills. Show less

In this role I worked closely with the Senior Designer and Picture Editor. I developed my picture research skills, sourcing visual content from various picture agencies for the daily news and lifestyle articles. It was a fast- paced working environment and deadlines were often extremely tight. This provided the opportunity to enhance my strong organisational and time - management skills, which enabled me to successfully complete tasks promptly and to a high standard. Digital Design Intern

As the Digital Design Intern my role was to redesign outdated ebook covers for various authors on Amazon. I utilised picture agencies to source imagery for the covers. I combined strong photography, layouts, and typography to create bold compositions that would capture the reader’s attention. In addition to this I worked closely with the social media and marketing teams designing tweet cards to create online buzz around the newly designed ebooks. I worked closely with the motion and print designers on internal and external briefs sent by clients including the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and HSBC. My responsibilities included attending meetings, brainstorming initial concepts with the head designers and contributing my own design response to the briefs. I gained valuable knowledge of the professional relationship between the design team and its clients, graphic design’s role in the corporate world, and I improved my skills on After Affects and Premier motion software.
