I currently work within a busy and dynamic UKAS accredited laboratory , where my primary responsibilities include the analysis of samples to establish both the presence of asbestos and the specific type of asbestos concerned. In order to do this I use a Stereo Microscope for the initial analysis and then prepare slides using a Refractive Index Cargille Liquid for any fibres I have found. I then use a polarised light microscope (PLM) in order to determine whether the fibres are asbestos and if so, which type. Upon completion of my assessment of the sample, I undertake recording of samples and results in a secure electronic database and completion of required paperwork in line with current best practice and guidance. At times it is necessary to liaise directly with external teams such as surveyors and air testers both verbally and by email in order to complete time sensitive samples. I have consistently achieved a high standard in work, with a low error rate in samples and in my monthly internal QCs which I take part in every month. I also participate in AIMs and random QC checks which involves the random sampling of other staff's work on a daily or weekly basis. I carry out general tasks in the lab that include emptying the asbestos waste bins, General day to day cleanliness and storing samples so they are traceable and retrievable. I have contributed a lot to keeping the numbers of samples low by always being available for overtime through the week and at weekends. For this I'm one of the top contributors. I always hit my target on a daily basis and I'm willing to help any member of the team. I enjoy helping with training a new employee whether it is from day to day running of the lab or if they have no experience or knowledge in asbestos.

I trained to become a driving instructor. This involved taking the theory test and practical driving test again. It then involved many hours of driving instructor training before i sat my final instructor exam. In this time i was working with my PDI badge. Having real learners and putting my training to practice. I trained to become a driving instructor. This involved taking the theory test and practical driving test again. My time at peters bakery involved the baking of goods, packaging and labelling of all products. Also day to day cleanliness of the bakery which was very important. I also dealt with customers face to face and over the phone. I helped with celebration cake orders in person and on the phone then entering the information into the computer and sending it to head office to complete the order.I contributed to helping other Peters Bakery stores when they were short of staff or if they had run out of a certain product then i would deliver extra products to the store.

My responsibilities as a sales assistant at First Sport included dealing with customers. Wether it was finding more stock in certain sizes or using the computer to find the product in another store if we had non in stock. This also led to a everyday task of merchandising stock control. Checking the computer to see how much stock we had and wether we would need to order more in. I would also use a handheld computer to check all the stock to make sure the price od the products were correct. As part of the job i would contribute in till operation and money handling when we were busy. Day to day cleanliness of the job was also important in making sure the shop floor was well presented. This sometimes led to staying late after hours to clean and prepare the shop for the next day. Especially at christmas time and preparing the shop for big sales.
