I previously worked as an analyst at a boutique, corporate intelligence firm, where I addressed a variety of reputational and regulatory risks in the EMEA region, drawing on both open and human sources to deliver strategic intelligence and help our clients make informed business decisions. My work encompassed strategic business intelligence, including country risk assessments, litigation support and transactional due diligence, focussing on partners and acquisition targets and multijurisdictional investigative research, using a variety of key research tools and databases, including corporate registries and key jurisdictions. I interned within the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist department at Sotheby’s. Key responsibilities included writing catalogue notes, provenance research for incoming consignments and valuations, administrative duties and secretarial support, as well as writing essays and blog posts for the departments website, which can be found online. I was also familiar with Sotheby’s cataloguing, valuations, digital image and client systems, which I used on a day to basis when supporting members of the department. Show less

I assisted Dr. Simon Rennie at the University of Exeter on a paid, three-month research internship whilst sitting my finals. It was a fascinating internship, which required me to find poetry relating to the Lancashire Cotton Famine of 1861 from digital newspaper archives held by the university and carry out new and exciting research for Dr. Rennie’s future anthology. Where appropriate, I provided qualitative interpretation of the data in the form of detailed research notes. I was chosen to help on the Hardy Correspondents project at Exeter University. I spent three months working under the supervision of a PhD student, helping to digitalise and catalogue Thomas Hardy’s handwritten letters. Working with special collections and the digital humanities team, we looked into the contextual background of over 4,000 unpublished letters. The work will be used in outreach sessions in schools and colleges.

I was selected to represent the English department at the University’s open days. This paid position required me to give presentations to prospective students and their parents on life at Exeter and academia within the department.
