For a short period abroad where I physically moved to Barcelona I found employment as a Junior Buyer through a company specializing in direct Import of fresh / semi-preserved and frozen fish which was responsible for finding the best raw materials from all over the world; as a result of good “immediate luck” and already existing contacts with Norway and Denmark, I had the opportunity to learn the dynamics that revolve around the search and selection of fresh and frozen fish producers from all over the world. My areas of import competence were precisely Norway, Denmark, Chile and, depending on the periods and by the targets imposed at the managerial level, other spot areas. With this experience I was able to significantly improve my English and learn Spanish as well as a minimum of Catalan, the latter almost forgotten for obvious reasons. The thing I was really assisted with was an acquired and contractual training based on large weekly orders (about one or two trucks per week that I personally purchased) of fresh fish imported and resold to more than 12 European countries, also if our main focus was the Italian market.
