When I went to Vancouver to participate in a summer exchange program, Eliza was a leader in the foreign group. During the whole summer program, she was so energetic that everything could be arranged in a good order. She can also take the initiative to build connections with people from different countries, which highlights her powerful ability of communication. Additionally, she is capable of empathy and excellent teamwork to lead everyone to finish projects accurately and efficiently. What’s more, she exhibits her quick learning ability and fortissimo Cross-border ability. Last but not least, she is a reliable friend. She is definitely one of the most intelligent, gentile and patient people I have ever met.

After volunteering with the Kids' Kitchen program for a number of months, which supports children living in the Downtown Eastside neighbourhood by teaching the basics of cooking, the opportunity arose to continue as a Program Assistant. In this position, I help the Program Lead in organizing the meals we create, finding ways of integrating nutrition into the program, and ensuring that the participants have a fulfilling experience. My work at the Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House goes beyond the Kids' Kitchen program. I currently also assist with their other food security programs, including their recent urban farm development. This lot has created fresh produce which is then used in the hundreds of meals served weekly at the Neighbourhood House. I have been tasked with developing a business plan in which we will be able to increase funds for the Neighbourhood House through the sale of the produce. Using my marketing expertise, I have developed and maintained a seasonal newsletter with the goal of educating supporters and raising additional funds for our programs. This includes the creation of blog content. I am also assisting in the writing of grant applications.
