After successfully refining processes and objectives as the Marketing and Operations Manager, it became evident that my core strengths were well-suited to the company's evolving priorities. As a result, I transitioned to focus more on departmental operations and strategic frameworks, where I could make a greater impact. In my new role, I collaborated closely with department teams to analyze their processes, policies, and procedures, leading initiatives to improve efficiency and productivity. For example, I spearheaded a project to consolidate administrative assets such as Google Docs, Sheets, and physical sticky notes into platforms like Coda Docs and Airtable, which allowed us to build automations and enhance reporting capabilities, ultimately increasing operational efficiency and effectiveness. Most of my days are spent wrangling databases, creating internal apps & wikis, and building automations. I love my role because it enables me to dissect internal operations and refine or rebuild them alongside co-workers. First I built a password protected internal app (Airtable + Softr) that delivers location information to our delivery drivers allowing them to navigate complicated drop-off instructions while also knowing exactly which locations have a restroom available to them so they can relieve themselves while on a long route.Next I began, and continue, to build out our internal company wiki. The primary function is to serve as a company knowledge base while also supplementing existing training processes for new employees. Utilizing Coda.io has allowed me to quickly create what would historically have take 10x longer; it's also quite beautiful. Two co-created projects have already saved significant amounts of time and money by digitizing, organizing, and automating critical records in a searchable database. Our billing and inventory departments can now find exactly what they need in 10 seconds rather than spending hours rifling through years of scattered hardcopies. Most recently I built an automated task tracker for our various locations. Entering one line of information into the task database triggers automated messages, assignments, and / or calendar events while auto-generating video conferencing links, if necessary. Using relational databases with automations allow us to keep our team synced down to the second while alleviating mistakes and monotonous repetitive tasks. Show less

    • Campaign Manager
      • Nov 2018 - Apr 2021

Organized every facet of two campaigns while building a small team to help with outreach. We had the lowest dollar to vote ratio of any candidate in both cycles while running what some called an "unconventional" race. In the winning election of 2021 we bucked old school campaign trends while hopefully establishing a couple new ones. We were resident funded, never sent out mailers, and conducted litter collection events while canvassing. Considering this was all done under the shadow of a pandemic, we were especially proud of achieving such an unlikely victory. Show less

Part of a diverse team focused on growing downtown Elgin. More specifically I served as farmer's market committee chair, where we took a struggling Thursday midday market and moved it to a Friday afternoon-evening time slot, while also relocating it to the heart of our downtown. This has resulted in a 3X attendance jump. Additionally, I am proud the committee agreed to become a producer only market since we have many local growers and because it is important to our supporters. The most challenging part of this position is simply not being able to spend more time on it. Another role I serve in is that of Secretary. I am responsible for taking minutes, tracking attendance, and collection of volunteer hours. My overall focus in my last year, before the shelter-in-place order, had been on our TIF districts and research to determine if Elgin's Opportunity Zones could be used to serve Elgin and the downtown. However in mid-2020 we shifted our focus to serving food service operators in our downtown by waiving liquor license renewal fees, lobbying for designated curbside pickup spaces, updating ordinances to allow take-out alcohol sales, and creating a COVID Adaptation Grant for downtown business owners. I started as a server, worked my way up to bartender then became part of the management team for a high volume 300+ seat full service restaurant. Coolest part of the job, every October we serve as volunteer headquarters during Elgin's popular Nightmare on Chicago Street event. Organizing, training, certifying, and feeding over 100 volunteers in the middle of our years busiest night was always an enjoyable scramble. The biggest take away from my time working here was that each meal matters. Every guest, every time. The atmosphere, the attitude, the timing, the taste, the gratitude, all have to be right. Every time. Everything has to go right yet anything can go wrong. Show less

During my term I collaborated with Student leaders, Faculty, Administrators, the College President, and ultimately our College Trustees on reforming Scholarship application polices which blocked most deserving students from receiving needed aid. Another important issue highlighted during my term was the need of improving campus Sustainability. The journey is on going and improving each semester. So far we have made visible changes by adding bottle refill stations, installing bio-swales on campus, and doubling roof-top garden space. Other changes include departments going paperless, and sourcing materials from environmentally responsible sources. This semester goal is to have our President sign the President Climate Commitment.
