My objective was to deliver this initial MVP to validate key business assumptions. Funding and time were limited so my strategy centred on using a LowCode approach and partner with a local provider. We hit our key results and delivered a successful early platform within a few months. Collate continues to grow after its successful launch and early adopter beta program.

I joined the founders of Policy Expert as the lead developer and solutions architect, to build a brand new insurance platform with a mission to disrupt the home insurance market.Within 3 years, Policy Expert became a multi award winning UK insurer and the number 1 rated home insurance provider. It is now in the top 10 for UK general insurance (GI) and still growing every year, with over 1 million customers in home and motor. It is the most successful new entrant in GI in decades. We gained 2 high performance team results from ThoughtWorks due diligence, were in the Top 1000 companies to inspire Britain, and in 2020 were a finalist in Amazon ScaleUp Awards. I brought an inclusive and progressive agile and DevOps approach to development back in 2010, focusing on high performance team metrics and automation of business processes. My strategy for team growth was focused on a blend of permanent, contractors, hybrid and remote teams. Key objectives linked to personal growth, competency, and autonomy. This delivered long tenure, up to 3x the length of tenure for the developers in London. This strategy also delivered the key results of 3-5x cost savings on the average cost of permanent developers solely based in London. We architected over 100 decoupled services, handling millions of events, rooted in strong robust principles, high observability and automation as a first class requirement. This delivered a flexible but long lasting evolutionary system with low bug rates, almost zero downtime, allowing for fast growth in teams, and flexibility for the ever changing requirements and objectives of a modern start up.

This project was key to Informa's digital transformation. It required creating a strong trust bond with product owners and the wider business.Built on time and within budget, Intelligence Centre is a market leading application, which boasts many fortune 100 companies as users, including France Telecomm, Disney and Adobe. With the extension of Report Builder, it has shown that Intelligence Centre is a well-built and easily extensible platform the product owners are championing as a success.As well as writing software other duties included mentoring of junior developers, staying up to date on agile and related topics and to expose and integrate new technologies to the project and team.

Fiver Media (formerly Riptown Media) is the marketing arm of Bodog international, an online gaming company, with sites for poker, casino, fantasy football and music.Initially hired to join the architecture team to investigate new technologies, provide reference implementations for the wider tech teams, and to modernize the legacy EJB2 solutions.Promoted to lead the public web teams, we created a Single Sign On [SSO] solution for all Bodog web properties. Our new SSO solution allowed customers access to all Bodog offerings with a single login flow, and was able to handle more than 1000 logins per second. This type of performance was key during big sporting events like the super bowl. My teams helped Bodog's public web successfully serve millions of players daily, and we quickly adapted to new features and changes without interruption to the player experience.

Ecmarket a small privately held company creating bespoke software solutions.Conexiom is an order management solution. V1 was written in Java, using EJB2 server side, backed by Postgres; the web application using Struts; and the desktop client used the Eclipse framework. Eclipse plug-ins were created for each type of order management feature.As lead developer for V2 I used C# for both web and desktop clients, with the backend remaining as a Java EJB2 and JBoss solution. Conexiom rules engine wizard allowed users to create sophisticated business workflows for their order management with no technical assistance.Conexiom is used all over the world and successfully processed well over $100 million in transactions.
