I am the CEO and Founder of multi-award-winning UK-based clean-tech startup, Verv. We use advanced energy analytics and machine learning to help consumers save money on their energy bills, reduce their carbon footprint and keep their homes safe. We use advanced energy analytics and machine learning to help consumers save money on their energy bills, reduce their carbon footprint and keep their homes safe. Since founding, Verv has created state-of-the-art technology that optimises energy usage in the home (the Verv hub), on the grid (blockchain-based peer-to-peer energy trading system, the first of its kind in the UK) and within appliances (embedded smart microchip that can predict faults and deterioation in white goods). Verv's latest innovation is the Smart Isolator; a switch designed specifically for air conditioning units and heat pumps to help reduce energy consumption and predict faults before they occur. In 2016, roughly 10% of the planet's energy use went towards air conditioning, so this is an area ripe for improvement with huge opportunities for carbon and cost reduction. I am also co-founder of the European Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) conference, now in its tenth year.
