At TechnipFMC Process Technology I was part of the mechanical and operations group in our research and development lab. The projects that I worked on focused on the development and management of bench and pilot scale chemical processes and expanding the capabilities of the lab. This included design, construction, operation, modification, and maintenance of these systems for our company and external clients. I used AutoCAD and OnShape to create various diagrams and components that allowed us to document the process specifications and easily navigate throughout complex layouts. I sourced materials for the construction of the pilot plants and coordinated with manufacturers and contractors to ensure all specifications were met. I utilized data acquisition tools to analyze large data files for trends in temperature, pressure, and gas sample profiles to evaluate system performance. In addition, I worked on automating various aspects of our process using low voltage controllers and mechanical hardware, which allowed us to be more efficient. Lastly, I was a certified member of the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response team that responds to hazardous chemical spills in the facility if necessary. These products were being developed as part of the Department of Defense Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, which supports companies through the research and development of innovative ideas that could potentially lead to commercial use. The main products that I worked on include multi-fuel portable generators, industrial kitchen appliances, and instant water heaters. I was responsible for designing, building, and testing parts and assemblies of these products. Most of my design work was completed using SolidWorks for both prototype and machining purposes. I used Stratasys Dimension FDM 3D printers to create prototypes and fabrication equipment such as a mill, lathe, and CNC to create finished parts. I completed testing throughout the production of these products to analyze efficiency, flow rates, duty cycles, and temperature profiles as well as investigating root causes of failures.

At Entegris I was part of the Critical Materials Handling Team where I contributed to new product development of the company's high tech filters. I worked directly with filter prototypes to streamline assembly processes and upgrade manufacturing equipment whenever necessary. I designed new filter concepts in SolidWorks for future development as well as testing and assembly fixtures. I was also an integral part of the commissioning of a new manufacturing facility in Bedford, MA. As part of the product development team I worked closely with engineers from different departments to analyze the effectiveness of portable dialysis machines. I completed various company regulated testing protocols as well as testing for the FDA on specific functions of the machines. This exposed me the inherent difficulties of working in the medical device industry, but also the reward of helping people who require dialysis to survive.
