I founded UncommonGoods with the goal of introducing more people to creative design in a sustainable way. UncommonGoods is a hub of creativity - from collaborations where we work with designers to help get products made to the commerce side of our web site and catalog where customers can purchase a broad range of items that are great for gifts or themselves. We strive to do everything in a sustainable manner, beginning with treating everyone with dignity and respect, paying a living wage, using environmentally-friendly materials and working with vendors who share similar practices. CYD is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide support services to disadvantaged public high school students. I helped establish the organization when I was a volunteer tutor at Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School (MCNDHS) in 1994. The organization provides a variety of critical support services to high school students at MCNDHS, Health Professions and Human Services High School and City As School. I was as a founding Board member, served as Board Chair from 2000 to 2007 and have been a member of the Board of Advisors since then. Show less

A volunteer organization dedicated to the restoration of this badly neglected park on NY's Lower East Side, with a goal of making the park inviting to all members of our diverse neighborhood. We helped raise $10 million to restore the park. Construction began in March 2019 and is slated for completion in late 2020.
