I interned at the molecular diagnostics lab at National Jewish during my graduate studies. I was able to assist in running various assays including PCR, and film array which detect low concentrations of markers associated with diseases. I also cultured organisms for AlloSource, which is an organization that deals with distributing allografts. They test organs for harmful bacteria, and confirm with the molecular lab that the organism is indeed what was identified. We stored the cultures so they could be used as positive controls.
