As a Design Lead at Clinical Engineering Innovation I was responsible for projects to take clinician ideas and turn them into concepts and products with full technical file support with an ISO 13485 approved quality system. I was also responsible for supporting grant funding applications and presentations and successfully achieved funding for multiple projects. • Class IIa active therapeutic hearing device (https://hearglueear.wordpress.com/) – horizontal innovation project to transition a consumer product into an approved medical device for use with children with temporary conductive hearing loss. • Class III internal prosthetic device development – providing regulatory expertise and technical file documentation during early stage proof of principle scientific work. I took on additional responsibility to reinvigorate the External Consultancy offering of the hospital, providing paid for access to clinical staff, facilities and Key Opinion Leaders. I negotiated rates, set up legal terms and conditions and raised income to support NHS innovation projects. https://www.cuh.nhs.uk/clinical-engineering-innovation Show less

Cara has designed two pieces of software for Q2. The first project involved designing and writing a database to process and interpret large quantities of data. The second project involved designing wire-frame layouts of the user interface for a new piece of software. Both systems are now continuing in development and the first project is now in use by several clients. Cara has designed two pieces of software for Q2. During an 8 week placement Cara developed a demonstration case for a new piece of technology which simulates nodes in an automotive network. By learning how the CAN bus works and integrating Vector technology with client's automotive hardware, an explanatory demonstration was created. Cara was also given the opportunity to demonstrate this technology at a conference after the placement.
