Main tasks include attending evaluations, excavations and watching briefs across Kent, Suffolk and Essex, alongside completing relevant paperwork to a high quality, including contextual analysis, section drawings, the identification of areas for further focus, and the use of photography to preserve items in situ. I have also spent a considerable amount of time working with the post-excavation department floating and sorting environmental samples, processing (cleaning, marking and quantification) finds for further analysis, managing the storage of samples and finds, assisting in the coordination of incoming and outgoing finds and soil samples, alongside packaging and transporting them. Tasks also include the preparation of site archives for museum deposition and liaison with internal specialists, field workers and project managers.

OnCampus Placement: Curation Assistant in Zooarchaeology
-
Apr 2018 - Aug 2018
Completing the highly sought after OnCampus Placement in zooarchaeological remains, expanding the archaeological fish bone collection. I chose what to do for this placement, and was in charge of implementing my plan, showing my initiative and ability to work without supervision: It involved learning to identify different fish elements and species, the preparation of an appropriate storage medium, selecting the correct elements then cleaning and documenting the specimens as necessary. It also involved the curation of the other zooarchaeological collections.
