For my master thesis for the Research Master International Development Studies, I conducted a five-month independent ethnographic research in the Philippines. I studied the heterogeneous lives and experiences of children in street situations in Tondo, one of the biggest slum areas in the country. I developed a theoretical framework how to study the lives of children in street situations as 'Street Careers'. I used multiple qualitative research methods and conducted a child-centered study which revealed interesting facts and aspects of children's street careers. Thesis: 'Street Careers: An Ethnographic Study on the Heterogeneous lives of children in street situations in Tondo the Philippines'. Grade: 8.5 Show less

Together with a coach from Accenture, our team of four students developed a community based framework on hygiene. We analyzed the priorities in a broad research field and addressed one of the biggest challenges: hygiene. We developed a strategic plan on how knowledge about hygiene can be efficiently distributed throughout the Baku Community in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We executed a successful crowdfunding campaign which resulted in a kick start of the project in September 2016.
