Research theme: “Building sustainable communities through urban environmental design and urban waterfront regeneration.” The study was done when analyzing the quality of life alongside waterfront areas, in this case “Yosuis”. So yosuis are man made canals which crosses all over the city of Kanazawa. They were constructed in Edo period, and have been recently opened to community’s eyes. It’s important to see how through urban design in waterfront areas it was possible to requalify the surrounding areas, towards more sustainable communities. Requalifying urban spaces in waterfront areas not only is good for the environment but it is also good for the society, as it promotes more people using public spaces. So more security, surveillance and local economy growth. Show less
