Mechanical Designer working with Engineers and sales to create and modify new and existing equipment in the Oil Refinery Process field. Taking customer concepts, needs and specifications to designing solid models and assemblies that can be shared with customers to determine layout dimensions. Then taking those designs and models and further refining them to create manufacturing drawings for production of components and assemblies that fit the customer specifications. These components are very complicated devices used in Oil and Gas refining with safety as a top priority and life of the units expected to be in the range of 25 years so durability is a premium. This requires designs that are very precise and thought through. • Worked in the R&D Engineering group (budget of over $8 million/year) designing flat panel X-ray image detectors for medical, dental and veterinary applications and X-Ray Tubes for CT, C-Arm, Dental, Mammography and Inspection using SolidWorks 3D CAD software. Created extensive designs that aided the customers to reach goals of “Faster, Stronger and Lighter” by making product an average of 25% lighter while maintaining or exceeding speeds by over 10%. • Guided company in switch from outdated CAD software onto SolidWorks saving over $25k in upgrade and maintenance fees yearly. • Project management experience (from twice taking a design project from concept to production and three SAP projects) which involved resource management, time line creation and maintenance, marketing discussions and people management, coming in at an average 80% below budget costs and 2 months ahead of schedule on all projects. • Project manager for conversion of database control for CAD files from ineffective database management program into SAP saving 30% time for work completion, 90% file duplication, 70% error and $120k/year in maintenance fees. Specialized in the SAP control of CAD files through CADdesk and linking those files to internal information and data. Lead person in getting the entire US Varian Medical Systems Company ($4.5 billion/year) set up on accessing SolidWorks CAD files directly under SAP control. This responsibility also included designing and conducting training at 2 different national and 2 local sites and online with a third group.
