I am honored to write a letter of recommendation for Bridget Bateman as she applies for your position. Bridget and I first met when she worked as a Program/Development Intern for Kids’ Food Basket. Before becoming a part of the Kids’ Food Basket Team, Bridget was finishing her studies at Hope College. Unfortunately, in March of 2020, like the rest of the world, Kids’ Food Basket had to downshift and adapt to the rising concerns of COVID-19. Although Bridget’s internship started well into the pandemic, we were still impressed by the consistent hard work she put into each project. When her internship began, Bridget was given a few major projects in the development space. The first was our annual community partner challenge, where teams from around the area compete to engage with our organization. The second project was to research, plan, and execute a Telethon with the Kids’ Food Basket Team. I’m happy to report that Bridget exceeded expectations and took both projects across the finish line with great success. By the end of Bridget’s internship, she had made a lasting impression on the entire team. Every day, despite her mountains of schoolwork, she showed up with a bright attitude that acted as a beacon for the rest of us. Bridget reminded us that although the work we do isn’t glamorous, it can still be rewarding and fun with the right people around. It is difficult to capture someone’s essence in a few short paragraphs, but one moment comes to mind when thinking of Bridget. While preparing for the Telethon, I fell ill and had to leave on short notice. Bridget stepped up, hosted a meeting on our behalf and completed the research we needed to inform our next decision. I was so impressed by her unflinching ability to remain flexible and lead a team of people twice her age. In a few years, I imagine we’ll all be working for Bridget Bateman! If I can provide additional information, I encourage you to contact me.
