    • ASC Design Lead: Regular Class
      • Apr 2023 - Present

Responsible for guiding the ASC sub team during the design of the aircraft's outer mold line. My duties as design lead are to train members in software such as STAR-CCM+ and XFLR5, perform high level analysis to explore the design space, help to facilitate communication between different sub teams, and provide support and guidance to members as the design progresses.

Member of the Aerodynamics Stability and Control (ASC) sub-team. Worked with a diverse team to design, build, and fly an aircraft to compete in the SAE AERO Design Competition.• Helped Regular class win 1st place at competition for two consecutive years. (2022 and 2023)• Performed trade studies using CAD and CFD simulations to design aerodynamic components.• Applied stability and control principles to optimize aircraft handling.• Collected and analyze flight test data.• Documented my design process to be presented in a comprehensive design report.• Assisted in manufacturing and quality control for prototype and competition aircraft.• Designed key components for five different aircraft. Greatly contributed to a large scale quality audit by reviewing and updating over 150 cutup testing plans and associated documents to validate that they were accurately meeting customer requirements. Consulted with and assisted metallurgists and customer representatives in reviewing documentation and solving problems. Saved over $400K in annual testing costs by streamlining testing documents through customer procedures. Additionally, I worked on a project to improve the accuracy of tensile testing results from the testing lab. I accomplished this by developing an Excel/VBA code to automate the calculation of material properties, producing results with a higher accuracy than the lab. Show less
