Athenkosi is the person to go to when you want to get the best out of a team. He radiates positive energy and encourages everyone to make a contribution. We studied civil engineering together at the University of Cape Town where we both served as mentors to first year students and took several courses together. We also share an interest in cycling and hiking. Athenkosi would generously give of his time to help out and delighted in seeing others succeed. This was demonstrated by the founding of AfrikaCan! a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to mentoring school students and preparing them for academic and social success. More recently this has translated into starting an online learning services company where his inspirational work will be able to reach an even wider audience! His strong values, compassion, ability to innovate and clear style of communication truly make Athenkosi stand out among other leaders.

To whom it may concern, It is my pleasure to strongly recommend Athenkosi Nzala due to my knowledge of his support of his character and work ethic. My first encounter with Mr. Nzala was through the University of Cape Town Student Leadership Programme where he served as a mentor. Even though our encounter was brief and from mostly afar, he came across as a dedicated and disciplined individual who is passionate about the youth. My close encounter with Mr. Nzala was during the time when I worked as a Programme Assistant for the Humanities Faculty Mentorship Programme at the University of Cape Town and my first impressions of him were confirmed. As the programme, we had the pleasure of working with him at the appreciation events that are held annually for mentors where he assisted us as a photographer. In 2020, he graciously accepted our invitation for him to be the keynote speaker for the mentor appreciation event. Mr. Nzala built quite a strong reputation in public speaking, particularly for young audiences in his time at the University of Cape Town. Mr. Nzala is an electrifying public speaker. His passion for transformation through education and mentorship is infectious and inspiring. His multidisciplinary background and leadership experience has listeners transfixed and they are able to gain a fresh perspective on selfless leadership, capacity building of young people and personal development. After the event was held, many of the programme mentors requested a recording of his speech. Mr. Nzala has deep professional expertise, and it shows. In his address he drew on his career as an educational consultant, an entrepreneur operating in the digital space and as the founder of AfrikaCan! Foundation to illustrate the way major trends are reshaping the process of mentorship in the higher education environment and outside. His experience working on the ground in AfrikaCan! Foundation provides a highly relevant influence to the perspective of mentorship that he shared with us and the mentors. His presentation was packed with illuminating anecdotes, telling statistics, surprising paradoxes and a refreshing dose of good humor. His speech was particularly impressive and showcased his appreciation for and knowledge of human behavior, social organization, change and diversity. Mr. Nzala is one of the young Africans that are emerging in our society who will be great drivers of positive social change. He is someone to lookout for. It is my pleasure to write this recommendation for Athenkosi Nzala. He is a lively and provocative speaker who delivers valuable information and analysis in an inspiring and entertaining manner.

Athenkosi has incredible problem solving skills. I think his greatest asset is his passion for continuous development. He is not afraid to tackle new challenges in unfamiliar environments. Most importantly his humbleness and respect for humanity makes him one of the greatest person to work with.

I contributed by consulting and designing online courses for the Pearson Institute of Higher Education (PIHE) alongside my senior instructional designer. This meant coordinating the development of content and tools for the Learning Management System (LMS) by playing an integral role in optimizing the student learning experience with responsibility for the administration and maintenance of the LMS. We achieved a creation and recreation of more than 4 Online courses over 4 trimesters using the ADDIE model. Another achievement was the ability to learn the business model enough to present to potential clients, of which under one year of my experience I managed to get one during my daily duties.
