I bring years of project/program development and management experience within the UN system, Private Sector Partners, NGOs and Governmental entities. I a seasoned program manager and a proven resource mobilizer. Developed and enlarged Turkey’s program fourfold in just nine years, establishing the region’s largest GEF portfolio I was responsible for leveraging US$70 ml in cash and US$250 ml cash/in-kind from entities like the EC, MDG F, Government of Turkey and the private sector. Today, the Turkish program is a model of sustainability—owing in large measure to my impact. Through my unique skills in strategic advocacy at both the policy and program levels, I ensured that UNDP Turkey became the regional “go to” agency in the realms of climate change, energy efficiency, sustainable development and biodiversity. So I understand the practical aspects of program design yet I also understand the nuances of policy. I helped pen the Turkey Climate Change Strategy as well as the Action Plan for both mitigation and adaptation alternatives. I drafted the voluntary carbon market law. Developed and delivered negotiation trainings for UNFCCC negotiations for national partners. Supported Turkey to ratify the Kyoto Protocol, prepare Turkey’s National Communications, NAMAs, MRVs etc., Initiated the negotiations and ensured that Turkey is part of SE4ALL UN initiative. Play an active role to advocate for Green Climate Fund by sharing updated information and negotiate for Turkey commitment to assign the National Designated Authority. I possess the outstanding international expertise needed to respond to the global, regional and national environmental and climate change priorities in the socio-economic and political contexts in which the issues are imbedded. I lent inputs to loan packages of US$700 ml for the WB, based on my ground-breaking work to forge the UNDP Turkey climate change and sustainable development interventions.
