Harry Fort Insurance Brokers was created in 1982 by Harry Fort, my father, my brother Christopher and myself. It became a very successful local business due to its ethos of "doing the right thing". In addition to being managing partner, I was also an independent financial adviser for 25 years. In 2005 I set up a specialist financial planning firm (Fort Financial Planning Ltd) providing advice to successful families. Having left University with a degree in economics, I made the somewhat unusual choice of becoming a nurse. It proved to be a tremendous training, providing me with the skills to be able to deal with all types of people no matter what their background was. I left Manchester to relocate to Dorset to set up an insurance broking business with my father.
