As a Peer Advisor for the Harbert College of Business, I coordinate with the academic advising office for day-to-day requirements, procedures, and responsibilities. During the academic semester, I check-in students for advising appointments and communicate with academic advisors. I also help students with questions involving advising and the College of Business. During the summer as a Peer Advisor, I worked with 10-15 new incoming freshman each week. I guided them through the curriculum requirements for their upcoming semesters at Auburn and helped create their first semester course plans. During my first summer as a Peer Advisor, my leadership and communication skills flourished. I was able to make meaningful connections with the incoming freshman that I advised and eased some of the stress that came along with the lifestyle change that quickly approached them. Show less

I began working at Steak-Out before my senior year of high school. I was given the honor to work as a CO-OP student, meaning I could satisfy my academic requirements while also working part-time. The CO-OP program required students to work at least 20 hours per week, and students participated in weekly meetings with the program coordinator to ensure the success of the students. The skills that I learned while working at Steak-Out will resonate with me forever. I learned the value of being a committed worker while at the same time making meaningful connections with coworkers and customers. I was able to adjust to the chaotic environment and perform at my highest during long shifts and stressful situations. Being a part of this company taught me the importance of customer service and consistency within all aspects of a business. Many of my coworkers had been working within the company since the beginning, and seeing their enthusiasm for Steak-Out inspired me everyday to have the same determination and care for my future career.
