In August 2017, I became the Managing Director of Harrison Spence Limited. Previously I was the Managing Partner in the Harrison Spence partnership. I have had a career in Financial Services which has spanned more than 35 years and have run medium and small sized companies ranging from 3 to 100 people. With a wealth of experience behind me (and hopefully a good few years in front) my main aim is to support business owners and leadership teams to create sustainable high performing businesses that give them the option of realising a life transforming capital event on exit. I achieve this by using my first-hand knowledge of building then selling four separate business. My experience is broad based. On a day to day basis, I am available to help with a wide range of business issues including the following: • Buying and Selling IFA businesses- I can help facilitate the purchase and sale of IFA practices, having won several awards for work in this field. We have an 85% success rate when appointed and our unique approach of acting for both buyer and seller helps to ensure that a successful outcome is achieved for all parties. • Buying and selling of Discretionary Fund Managers - I can assist in the acquisition of funds from one Discretionary Fund Manager to another. • Business Valuations- I can provide valuations for companies for a variety of different scenarios including; business divorce, marital divorce and internal share purchase. • Single Joint Expert- where two or more parties wish to submit expert evidence on an issue, the court may direct that the evidence on that issue is to be given by a single joint expert and I am available to act in this respect. •Professional Witness- I have offered my assistance before as an expert witness in a number of cases where the courts required an in-depth knowledge of the Retail Financial Services market place and the values of businesses within them. Monily is one of the Europes first ‘Tap-on-Phone’ payments providers, also known as a ‘Soft Point of Sale’ (SoftPOS). We came together with the idea of making receipts and payments, simple and affordable. In doing this we aim to give every SME merchant the ability to take payments without the cost burden of traditional payments and saving a few trees by stopping receipts. Harrison Spence was Established to advise IFA's and other individuals in the Financial Services sector in relation to Consultancy services and the Mergers and Acquisitions market in both retail advisory businesses and the wholesale DFM and funds market. I have run medium and small sized companies ranging from a team of 3 through to 100 people, and in all cases the best results can be achieved by fully engaging with the team players and ensuring their values and objectives are aligned with the company's plans. By doing this, you will have shown the ability to understand all members of the team and what they want from their role ensuring they are fulfilled through their work and it is possible to have a cohesive group who are all trying to get to the same outcome together. There are many advantages of being an award winning team or business such as, enhanced goodwill feelings in the office to an increased value for future sale. All of these will improve the lives of all of those working in the company and for the Stakeholders of the business. I and the businesses I have run, have won industry awards for "Managing Partner of the Year" -"Most Innovative Practice of the Year" - "Best Managed Firm" and I now really enjoy helping others to be successful through consulting with them and sharing the experiences in order to help them to achieve better successes for their businesses and teams. Since being involved with Harrison Spence I have worked with small and large companies from all sides of the sector in the role of a consultant and in the buying and selling of both IFA practices and funds under management from one firm to another. Increasingly we are being asked for assistance in the acquisition of funds from one Discretionary Fund Manager to another as the effects of RDR (Retail Distribution Review) has an effect on this area of the financial services arena as well as the advisory side.
