I had other triathlon coaches in the past and I did well but I always fought though repetitive injuries in the process. I knew there was more to learned…not just following a program. A teammate, a five-time Ironman world age-group champion, had Al as her coach. I was leaving the triathlon world but I needed a coach for future endeavors, and my career, so I joined up with Al. Al is the owner/co-founder of Pursuit Athletic Performance, LLC, and has been coaching endurance athletes from all walks of life and ability levels since 1999. He's also a retired member of the U.S. Coast Guard Band and presently a percussionist and librarian for the Venice Symphony, in Venice. Pursuit Athletic Performance is an internationally recognized gait analysis laboratory and coaching company for athletes from all sports. Coach Al opened "PAP" along with sports physician, Dr. Kurt Strecker, in 2010 in Old Saybrook, CT. The "brick and mortar" analysis lab moved to Chester, CT in 2015, and subsequently evolved into an online-only analysis system in 2016. "Team Pursuit" athletes of every age and ability level from around the globe continue to compete successfully at various race distances in swimming, running, and multisport, doing it all with a "movement quality first" approach to training. Among the many athletes Coach Al has helped reach their ultimate potential is 5-time Age Group Ironman World Champion and 40-44 age-group course record holder, Lisbeth Kenyon. Current Certifications: USA Triathlon, Fascial Stretch Therapist with Stretch To Win, Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist, National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), Dragon Door (HKC), Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research (Fitness Specialist), Functional Movement Screen provider (FMS), Barefoot Training Specialist (Evidenced Based Fitness Academy). He is also certified in clinical gait analysis by Medical Motion, a subsidiary of Sports Motion, Inc.As an athlete, Coach Al is a multi-time marathon finisher with a personal best of 2:39:37 at the Boston Marathon, and a nine-time Ironman Triathlon finisher, including three finishes at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
